Wednesday in the Word

"But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it - not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it - they will be blessed in what they do"
James 1:25

To look intently into something means to give it your eager attention. You have a desire to give that something (or someone) your full gaze and concentration.

What are some things that you have looked intently into this past week? Was it your spouse, children, or a close friend? Was it your job, your favorite sports team, or your social media account?

Of course, many of those things should get our attention. Others, maybe not so much. However, it can be easy to misplace our focus when there are so many things in our lives that vie for our time and energy.

In order to not deceive ourselves and forget what we have learned (James 1:22-24), we must be diligent in giving our steadfast attention to what matters. To avoid being polluted by the world and stumbling over every roadblock, we must "look intently into the perfect law that gives freedom" (vs 25).

May we all be encouraged this week to stay in the Word and give God our eager attention so that we may experience true freedom and blessing that only comes through Him!
